Télé-université

Télé-université is a component of the Université du Québec à Montréal. Sometimes abbreviated to Téluq, it became a component of UQAM in June 2005. The enabling legislation is An Act respecting educational institutions at the university level. It offers several undergraduate programs including six degrees. It also offers two master degree programs and one Ph.D. program. Excluding research funding, it has a yearly budget of nearly $33 million. In 2006-2007, its student population grew by 12.5%. With over 55 professors and over 200 tutors and teaching assistants, Téluq has a number of courses and degrees in computer science, education, communication, environmental sciences, and management. TÉLUQ became a component of the University of Québec in Montréal on October 19, 2005. It now has no board of directors, headquarters or registrar. However management offices are located in Quebec City. According to rule 19 of UQAM, similar to a TÉLUQ rule in force before its merger with UQAM, these offices must always be in Quebec City. With approximately 60 000 students, the TÉLUQ-UQAM establishment is the biggest francophone university.

  • Maria Ly is quite literally a Rock Star. You’ll often find her hanging off a 5.13a grade rock climbing route, she is the rock star co-founder of Skimble (which is incubated by Rock Health), and you can find her rock formation photography featured in Outside Magazine.

  • March 13, 1988 was the day we moved to America. Although it wasn't my first time in the country, that date was the beginning of my journey through the American school system. Those eleven years filled me with a lifetime of great memories.

  • Mayank is an inventor and zebra-enthusiast. He developed Stripespotter, a biological barcode scanner for zebras, and is a part of the team behind Facebook insights. By way of India to Oman to the US, Mayank can be found behind the wheel of a red Porsche dreaming up his next big idea.
